“Therefore strive for yoga – which is the art of all work.”
– Bhagavad Gita
Yoga Teacher Training
Yoga teacher training is a wonderful opportunity to gift yourself dedicated time to deepen your practice, expand your understanding of yoga and its philosophy, explore mindfulness, and—most importantly in today’s fast-paced world—slow down and reconnect with your own body.
Throughout the training, we’ll cover the classic asana postures:
- Standing
- Seated
- Forward Bending
- Back Bending
- Inversions
- Restorative
The focus of the year is self-discovery through the structure and discipline of the asanas. There is no expectation of having a “yoga body.” Instead, we meet our bodies exactly as they are. Yoga means union—and that’s what this journey is about: creating connection between body, mind, and spirit.
As a senior-trained Iyengar teacher, I use props and supports to help students find correct alignment and access poses safely. The use of props makes yoga inclusive and accessible, allowing all bodies to practice together.
The course also explores the history and evolution of yoga—how it has developed into the forms we see today. We’ll look at the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and reflect on how its timeless messages can be experienced through the practical, embodied elements of the asanas.
You’ll learn how to teach safely and confidently, with emphasis on:
- Teaching beginners
- Making safe and effective adjustments
- Understanding sequencing
- Developing your own self-practice—arguably the most essential element of teaching
“No teacher can give you the secrets of the Asana. Only your practice will reveal the secrets to you.”
— Geeta Iyengar
